Health and Safety Advisor - Ngāwhā OEC5 Project (Fixed Term)

The Top Energy Group operates throughout the Far North delivering geothermal electricity generation and electricity network operations. We are enabling Northland to contribute to the decarbonisation challenge by transforming the Top Energy Group into a technology-enabled energy company that generates and facilitates two-way energy flow between renewable energy generators and consumers.

About the role

Our Ngāwhā geothermal power station site is expanding to include a 5th generating unit, and we are looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to be responsible for the health and safety aspects of the project works. You will take ownership of H&S policies, procedures and systems in relation to the full lifecycle of the project. This is a chance to be part of a small, high-performing team, working on an exciting project where you will be able to see tangible results.

The role is based at the Ngāwhā geothermal station for a fixed term period (3 years) and will report to the Ngāwhā Project Director.

The project includes large scale civil works, drilling of 4 geothermal production wells, installation of cross county piping, and the mechanical, electrical and control system works associated with provision of an operating power station. This is a brown fields development within an upper tier major hazard facility.

About you

You will bring at least 5 years' experience in with significant time spent on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects. Ideally your experience will be backed by a relevant health and safety qualification.

You are an influencer who can challenge leadership and contractors constructively and help partner to create practical solutions that meet our health and safety obligations. You must have a deep operational understanding of the HSWA 2015, specifically the legal implications of overlapping PCBU duties and client obligations.

Additional skills and experience

  • Full NZ Driver's Licence (essential)
  • Experience working on the client/principal side or within a Tier 1 contracting environment (preferred)
