Top Energy has operations throughout the Far North. The Company is privately owned by a power consumer trust and employs staff in Geothermal Generation and Distribution Lines operations. It is an exciting time to join us as we transition from an electricity distribution company designed to transfer electricity in one direction from a centralised source to multiple consumers. Evolving to a technology enabled distributed energy system that allows multi-directional energy transfers between small generators and users.

We are seeking a Vegetation Controller, who will essentially assist with carrying out vegetation clearance work, both around power lines during regular scheduled maintenance, or fault response operations either supervised or unsupervised, as directed.

This position will report to the Vegetation Supervisor and will be based at our Puketona site.

Key areas of focus will be:

  • Assist with tree work to achieve line clearance, identifying any risks involved, and ensuring expected relevant standards are met
  • Completing daily tasks as directed by the Foreman
  • Maintaining safety standards to a high level
  • Ensuring correct operation of vegetation plant and equipment
  • Follow best practice guidelines

To succeed in this role, you will preferably have 3 years secondary education and will need to have arborist or forestry experience, including chainsaw experience. An understanding of relevant Codes of Practice and holding a current Close Working Zone certificate is essential. The successful candidate must hold a full, clean Drivers Licence and it would be an advantage to hold class 2 and 4 HT licenses.

Additional skills and attributes:

  • Accountability for self and others
  • Drive, determination and enthusiasm
  • A contributing team member who can work reliably, both supervised or unsupervised
  • Customer service focused
  • Good physical fitness and a head for heights
  • Strong safety standards
  • Positive attitude
  • Excellent communication skills

There is an expectation with this role to make yourself available for work outside of normal working hours on occasion for overtime or to assist with the daily operations of Top Energy's Network.

We at Top Energy are committed to provide a diverse and inclusive friendly work environment, where we work together and can all be ourselves.

We have a Drug and Alcohol Workplace Policy. Before any offer of employment is made, the short-listed candidate(s) will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical check which will include a drug and alcohol test.
