Relief Network Controller

The Top Energy Group operates throughout the Far North delivering geothermal electricity generation and electricity network operations. Our purpose is providing affordable and sustainable energy for Far North consumers, which we are achieving by transforming the Top Energy Group into a technology-enabled energy company that generates and facilitates two-way energy flow between renewable energy generators and consumers.

Due to growth of our team our Control Centre is looking for a strong team player, to be part of a team instrumental in the safe operation of the Top Energy Network and the maintenance of the associated systems and records that are required to run the Network safely and efficiently, taking into account our commercial responsibilities.

This position will report to the Control Centre Manager and will be based in Kerikeri.

Key areas of focus will be to:

  • Respond to fault situations promptly and in a cost-effective manner
  • Relief Shift Cover in the 24-hour 7 day a week shift roster, this may include 12-hour manned Control Centre operations and operation of Top Energy Networks Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS)
  • Liaise with Contractor Fault Coordinators or other contractors to coordinate resources as necessary to restore supply in the event of faults or emergencies
  • Provide switching application and approval services to approved Contractors
  • Schedule and configure network outages to minimise disruption to customers and drive efficiency
  • Review all outage request applications and create a quarterly schedule in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you will have at least three years' experience in an operational role in the electrical industry. Preference will be given if you have held or do hold an electrical practicing licence or have a relevant tertiary qualification. Being proficient in Microsoft office products would also be an advantage, as would having exposure to an ADMS system.
