Graduate Geothermal Plant Engineer

We are seeking a Generation Plant Graduate Engineer to assist with the engineering support and technical development of geothermal binary plant operations, ensuring effective and safe asset operation, optimal plant performance, and compliance with environmental consents and regulatory requirements. You will be joining a supportive, friendly, and dynamic team that are extremely passionate about what they do. This role offers the benefit of living in the beautiful Bay of Islands, whilst working at New Zealand's only Consumer Trust -owned major hazard facility, delivering renewable and sustainable energy.
This position will report to the Assistant Plant Manager and will be based at Ngawha.
About the role:
- You will be assisting with every aspect of geothermal electrical generation, from reservoir custodianship and geothermal well management to binary plant optimisation and safety case maintenance, through to resource consent and electrical compliance to export onto the New Zealand grid
- Preparation of design concepts and options for binary plant improvements and modifications
- Assist with binary plant maintenance activities to achieve operational goals and long-term asset protection
- Assist in maintaining and updating technical drawings and engineering documentation for binary plant systems
- Assist and engage with ongoing requirements of the Health and Safety at Work (Major Hazard Facilities) Regulations 2016
- Participate in Process Safety Management activities and exercises
- Support management of legislative requirements, resource consents, codes and regulations and development and maintenance of the existing safety case for geothermal binary generation
- Working with our geothermal generation team to ensure unique process safety requirements are developed and maintained
Your technical skills:
It is essential that the successful candidate hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical /Process Engineering, have the ability to understand engineering drawings and principles and hold a Full current NZ driver's licence. An added advantage would be to have experience in mechanical and/or electrical systems in heavy industry and CAD proficiency.
Consideration may be given to candidates who are in their final year of study of an Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical / Process Engineering Bachelor's degree.
