Health, Safety and Risk Advisor

The Top Energy Group operates throughout the Far North delivering geothermal electricity generation and electricity network operations. Our purpose is providing affordable and sustainable energy for Far North consumers, which we are achieving by transforming the Top Energy Group into a technology-enabled energy company that generates and facilitates two-way energy flow between renewable energy generators and consumers.

We are seeking a Health, Safety and Risk (HSR) Advisor to support the Health, Safety and Risk (HSR) Manager in successfully managing the Top Energy Group's health, safety, and risk portfolio. The HSR Advisor will take ownership of and assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring effective risk and H&S policies, procedures, and systems.

This position will report to the HSR Manager and will be based at our Kerikeri office.

Key areas of focus will be:

  • Assist in developing and delivering the Group Health & Safety Strategy and annual work programme
  • Work to advance organisational safety culture maturity
  • Maintaining and enhancing the Health & Safety and Risk Management Framework i.e. management of enterprise and operational risk aligning with AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018, with a particular focus on critical risk control effectiveness, including incorporating Process Safety for Geothermal Major Hazard Facilities
  • Maintain and review the health & safety and risk management system, continually evaluating procedures and practices, implementing improvements and solutions to meet the ISO45001 requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of information for the Management Reviews and for reporting to the Executive and the Board

To succeed in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification (diploma or higher) in Health and Safety, with at least five years' experience in managing or coordinating Health and Safety activities to ISO standards of continual improvement, quality and risk management in a medium to large organisation. You will have an understanding of and experience with health and safety legislation, ISO45001 and risk management practices. It would be an added advantage to have previous experience in the electrical or similar industry as would membership with a relevant risk institution (e.g. NZISM membership category: Professional or higher). It is also essential to hold a current full NZ Driver Licence.
