Vegetation Assistant

The Top Energy Group operates throughout the Far North delivering geothermal electricity generation and electricity network operations. We are enabling Northland to contribute to the decarbonisation challenge by transforming the Top Energy Group into a technology-enabled energy company that generates and facilitates two-way energy flow between renewable energy generators and consumers.

About the role

We are seeking a Vegetation Assistant, who will essentially assist with carrying out vegetation clearance work, both around power lines during regular scheduled maintenance, or fault response operations under the supervision of a Team Leader, Supervisor or Foreman.

These positions will report to the Vegetation Utility Supervisor and will be based at the Kaitaia Depot

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with tree work to achieve line clearance, identifying any risks involved, and ensuring expected relevant standards are met
  • Completing daily tasks as directed by the Foreman
  • Maintaining safety standards to a high level, continuously evaluating procedures and practices, whilst actively promoting Health and Safety within all areas of the business
  • Ensuring correct operation of vegetation plant and equipment is upheld, as well as servicing machinery and safety equipment

To succeed in this role, you will need to have 3 years secondary education and preferably have arborist or forestry experience, including the use of chainsaws. An understanding of relevant Codes of Practice and holding of a current Close Working Zone certificate is preferred, although not essential. The successful candidate must hold a full, clean Drivers Licence.

There is an expectation with this role to make yourself available for work outside of normal working hours on occasion for overtime or to assist with the daily operations of Top Energy's Network.
