Top Energy has operations throughout the Far North. The Company is privately owned by a power consumer trust and employs staff in Geothermal Generation and Electricity Distribution.

We are seeking a Trainee Line Mechanic to carry out maintenance work on underground and overhead power reticulation within Top Energy Network area.

This position reports to the Construction Supervisor and is based at our Puketona Depot.

Key areas of focus will be:

• Assist in carrying out maintenance and installation work on all aspects of the Top Energy Network
• To train and gain skills to become registered as a Line Mechanic
• Follow safe working procedures
• Actively promote Health and Safety within all areas of Top Energy's operation
• To be proactive in identifying and reporting hazards

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a minimum of NCEA Level 1 and must hold a full NZ Driver Licence, preferably including HT. You will need to enjoy working outdoors, be physically fit, and have a head for heights. It would be an advantage to have skills in using hand tools and machinery and either knowledge of, or experience in, the electrical industry.

Applicants that are shortlisted will be asked to attend a Saturday morning of assessments in February 2021, which will include both physical tasks and written exercises.

We have a Drug and Alcohol Workplace Policy. Before any offer of employment is made, the short-listed candidate(s) will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical check which will include a drug and alcohol test.

Any successful candidate that is employed in the position will be required to attend relevant block courses out of town until fully trained. Courses and associated costs are fully subsidised by Top Energy.
